For the Kids
If you have read the book about Gullah, the Nawleans Cat, you know he had a very big adventure.
Some Katrina children had adventures just like Gullah. Have you had an adventure you’d like to share with other kids? If you want to write a very short story we’d like for you to send it to us. We will publish the very best stories here on your page of this web site.
There are only a few rules to follow, and here they are:
- You need to tell us if your story is true or if you made it up. A made-up story is called fiction. You can also write about the book or the pictures.

- You must write it yourself. Mom or Dad can help, but not write your story for you because it is yours to tell!
- Your story needs to be short, only 300 words or less.
- You need to sign only your first name, your age and the state where you live.
Do NOT give us your last name. When you become a famous author you will sign your last name to your stories.
- Email your stories (and drawings too!) to the author at the email address below:
Sandy and I look forward to hearing from you. Happy Writing!
